A Really Really Free Market is a market where everything is free – really! No money exchanges hands. People bring things they no longer want or need and other people come to take these things away. It is not a swap; market goers don’t need to bring anything to take anything.
These goods can be almost anything, from clothes, books, and electronics, to children’s toys, sports equipment, kitchenware, and other items. We cannot take large items like furniture, though, and we ask that market goers only bring items that are clean and in working condition – we are not a disposal facility. As a rule of thumb, only bring items that are in a condition that you yourself would take. Any leftover items at the end of the day will be donated to sites that could use them.
The North York Really Really Free Market operates out of the Driftwood Community Centre on 4401 Jane St, several blocks north of Jane and Finch. Our aim is to make it a regular event and so far we’ve been holding the market every two months.
